1st Street and Village Eye Centres in Edmonton and Sherwood Park offers Vision Therapy (VT), which is a program involving exercises that can improve visual skills. Some of these skills include eye teamwork (binocularity), eye movement, eye focusing and perceptual skills.
Problems with these skills can produce symptoms such as headaches, eyestrain, blurring or double vision. A VT program is designed to reduce or eliminate convergence insufficiency, eye movement (tracking) disorders, accommodative disorders, general binocular dysfunction, amblyopia (lazy eye), some strabismus (crossed eyes or walleye) and visual perceptual problems.
Deficient visual skills can affect or reduce learning, reading and sports performance.
Our office operates a home therapy program. This involves a 6-month program where exercises are given for home and progress is monitored every 3 weeks by our vision therapist or optometrist in office.
